Susan and Justin's blog - a must see-

Susan and Justin will celebrate their first anniversary the end of December, but if you want to know what they have been up to for the last few months you should visit their blog. lemonademakers. They have lots of posts and pictures, but it's not your regular blog, they started it about the time they found out about Susan's colon cancer, for me it has been a place to check in and see how she's doing but I have learned so much about colon cancer (don't wait to be 50 to be tested) and the strength of Susan and Justin that I thought it was time to share. I hope you visit and take the time to read a few posts, go back to the beginning and glance through some older posts too. Susan inspires me, this is a time when most people would pull back and maybe even want to be alone, but not Susan, together with Justin they share their ups and downs. About 2 weeks ago Lennie and I went to Tempe to tend our granddaughter Rachel so her mom and dad could run in the "Undy 5000" for Susan, what a sight that was people dressed in their best and funniest underwear, all the the name of colon cancer. So visit the blog get to know Susan and Justin and get tested.

In Love

Even with all the friends and family around, Austin and Dayna seemed to be in their own little world.

Under the Apple Tree

I was lucky enough to be at my parent's house just in time to help pick apples with my daughter and granddaughter and pick up a few bottles of my mom's pickles, which I love almost more than rocky road ice-cream.

Saturday Fun

Did I ever tell you that I have an amazing Son-in Law? Well I do. Let me tell you a few things about him, he's good looking, fun, loves to fish, has the cutest little side glance when he's teasing you he is the best dad you ever saw he even changes messy diapers best of all he loves his wife and treats her like a queen, together they all make up an awesome family. Clayton had a birthday and we got to tend the kids while Lacie took him out to lunch, so I took a quick black and white of Miss B. Happy Birthday Clayton we're lucky to have you.

Sandra Day High School Golf Match

I love golf, I love to play it, I love to watch it, pros or not I love golf, so when the O'Conner boys were playing a high school match at the 500 Club I decided to go check them out, My son Trevor played for the team back when he was in high school (class of 2006) so I was quietly cheering for Sandra Day, quietly because golf is the "Gentleman's Game" no cheer leaders or fancy cheers just the quiet "golf clap" the "good putt" or "nice hit" just loud enough for the player to hear. The match was on the back nine, and the of the team played the Futures course so I took a few shots of them too. I enjoyed the afternoon but not the mosquitoes, I had to leave before the scores were totaled so I don't even know who won, maybe someone can tell me.

After the rain

The rain went away and the spider climbed out to see what we were up to, the sky was overcast but no more rain was in sight so we left the spider and went to take a few pictures. I couldn't believe that not one of these kids came close to getting wet. I always enjoy being around such a cute little family. Thanks R . . . .

Water magnet

While I was taking pictures of B... her little brother made a beeline for the water and took a swim in the lake, Lacie had to wade in to pull him out, then he was mad because she ruined his fun. We hadn't planed to take any pictures of C... but he was just too cute all wet. After we got him back to Lacie's and she gave him a bath I had a chance for a wet eyelash picture. Carin Davis gave me the idea, she is an amazing photographer form SLC click her name to see her wet eyelash pictures

Toothless smile

Another birthday and another year older. It was hot outside but we had lots of fun, her little brother had the most fun (more on that later) B. . . tells me when to take the pictures and how many, she cracks me up. And just why is it that kids look so cute with missing teeth?

On to Book 2 (more vampires)

Ok so you guys were right ... it is a good book, and a fast read. So far I do like it and I'm even looking forward to December for the movie.

Second time is the charm

If I didn't like the music of Abba so much I might have walked out of the movie Mamma Mia, I had a hard time with the casting what were they thinking? Only Amanda Seyfried who plays Sophie has any business singing, she is young and pretty and has a beautiful voice. Lacie and I laughed the hardest when Pierce Brosnan tried to sing, now mind you I knew he was in the movie I just assumed he wouldn't be singing, he has guts that's for sure. I have seen Meryl Streep sing in some movie with Greg Kinnear and she can make her way through a song or two. By the time the movie was over all I could do was shake my head and ask "what was Tom Hanks and Rita Willson thinking when they produced this movie". Now here is the strange part I didn't really like the movie and trashed talked too, but I couldn't get it off my mind, I did like the story line and the music, so when a couple of friends said they hadn't seen it and wanted to, I decided to go again, I have no idea why but I did.

The second time was a charm for sure, I really did like it a lot, maybe because I wasn't expecting a true musical and was able to have fun and just enjoy and laugh at the movie. By the end I was ready to go out and get a 70's garb, practice up on my Abba and find some more friends to go the movie again. I'm sure Lacie will think I'm crazy but I plan to buy it when it comes out on DVD.

What's up with these books??

I first heard about the "Vampire books" about a year ago at the family camp out in Utah my sister in-law Wendy was reading a book she couldn't seem to put down, when I ask what it was she couldn't believe I hadn't heard of them after all the author is from Phoenix she said. Then she starts to tell me the story line and I make a mental note to NOT read the book I mean Vampires, really I'm not into scary vampire stories, then I realize I said it out loud because Wendy says "it's not like that, it's a love story" I'm think humm... right. After we got home from camp some sort of food gate had opened and it was Twilight this and Bella that and what do you mean your not reading them. Lacie was the first to cave in when a good friend told her they really are good, so half way through book one and she had her sister at the book store. As far as I can tell I'm the only one who hasn't been bit. Lacie decided to come up for the weekend, her husband had to go for his weekend of guard duty, and it's our way of having some girl time, see a movie or play with the grandkids. Lacie put her kids to bed, and didn't get into her own p.j's which is not like her, here is where the plot thickens, she started trying to convince Patrick to "go for a ride" with her, turns out Borders is very close by and as luck would have it someones new book would hit the shelf at 12:01 Aug. 2nd and who wants to stand in a big ol' line by yourself, so off they went. There was a big line and wrist bands to go with it Lacie was number 280 something and the line was going nowhere, only a few people had their books and now another line was forming to pay for the book. Patrick is getting fidgety by this time after all it's just a book not a video game. They decided to leave the store and see if by any chance Walmart has the book, so off they went, walked into Walmart, went back to the books, where a nice lady was just making a nice stack of nice new books, they picked up a book, used the self checkout and they were out of there, then for the fun of it they drove past Borders to see the big line going nowhere. Book in hand and home in less than 30 minutes. Now Patrick and Lacie have a bet on what sells the most copies Breaking Dawn or Maddon's Football video game. As for me the question is will she or won't she read the big fat vampire books.

Coal Creek Canyon

We ran up to Utah for a family reunion over the 4th, Patrick was the only one of our kids that went with us, with the girls married and Trevor on a mission our family is smaller than ever. I talked Patrick into going for a walk with me, I was hoping to get a few shots of him since he hasn't let me take his picture for over a year. He does let me talke pictures of his dog, thanks Patrick but it is you I wanted a new picture of.
