What's up with these books??

I first heard about the "Vampire books" about a year ago at the family camp out in Utah my sister in-law Wendy was reading a book she couldn't seem to put down, when I ask what it was she couldn't believe I hadn't heard of them after all the author is from Phoenix she said. Then she starts to tell me the story line and I make a mental note to NOT read the book I mean Vampires, really I'm not into scary vampire stories, then I realize I said it out loud because Wendy says "it's not like that, it's a love story" I'm think humm... right. After we got home from camp some sort of food gate had opened and it was Twilight this and Bella that and what do you mean your not reading them. Lacie was the first to cave in when a good friend told her they really are good, so half way through book one and she had her sister at the book store. As far as I can tell I'm the only one who hasn't been bit. Lacie decided to come up for the weekend, her husband had to go for his weekend of guard duty, and it's our way of having some girl time, see a movie or play with the grandkids. Lacie put her kids to bed, and didn't get into her own p.j's which is not like her, here is where the plot thickens, she started trying to convince Patrick to "go for a ride" with her, turns out Borders is very close by and as luck would have it someones new book would hit the shelf at 12:01 Aug. 2nd and who wants to stand in a big ol' line by yourself, so off they went. There was a big line and wrist bands to go with it Lacie was number 280 something and the line was going nowhere, only a few people had their books and now another line was forming to pay for the book. Patrick is getting fidgety by this time after all it's just a book not a video game. They decided to leave the store and see if by any chance Walmart has the book, so off they went, walked into Walmart, went back to the books, where a nice lady was just making a nice stack of nice new books, they picked up a book, used the self checkout and they were out of there, then for the fun of it they drove past Borders to see the big line going nowhere. Book in hand and home in less than 30 minutes. Now Patrick and Lacie have a bet on what sells the most copies Breaking Dawn or Maddon's Football video game. As for me the question is will she or won't she read the big fat vampire books.

The best thing about the vampire books that the author gets you hooked on the characters and you get super addicted. As you know I am an avid book reader--and I would make all of my friends mad because I would not read the vampire books they were all recommending. All I could envision was "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" and as that show never held my attention for more than 2 minutes I figured it would be a waste of time. I was sooooo wrong. They are long, and there are four of them now--so it is no easy commitment--but once you get started it is so much fun. I hope the novel I write some day will be this much fun! :-) ps--i went to a novel writing class today so I am on my way :-)
